Russian Heavy Lift Helicopter

Many helicopters have been made by different companies across the globe but it would be difficult to find another as large and character specific as the Russian heavy lift helicopter. This kind of helicopter is very unique in its nature and is used in highly complicated activities such as mining. Copper mining is common in the Middle East and this helicopter is often used for this particular purpose where ordinary helicopters cannot be used. It is said to have the ability to lift very heavy loads that are extracted deep from the mines and remove them so as to create a way for the mineral to be extracted. It is characterised by very strong hooks that once they have hold on a load, they will not release accidentally except through a mechanical problem.

While at work, the Russian heavy lift helicopter produces a lot of noise causing noise pollution and this cannot be avoided. It draws people’s attention and many can stand to watch it perform its duty since it is always interesting. The helicopter consumes a lot of fuel during the performance of its tasks and thus there must be another smaller helicopter moving to and fro fuelling the tank of the Russian heavy lift helicopter to avoid running out of the fuel. This helicopter is said to have tail rotors that are bigger than those of the normal helicopters and actually this feature distinguishes it from many other common helicopters.

The Russian heavy lift helicopter has two massive turbo shaft engines and a third auxiliary engine which is used to start the main engines and is therefore very powerful. It has a large exhaust duct that a person can crawl through to reach the engine. In order for this helicopter to fly, it requires five people of which one acts as a pilot and the other the co-pilot. There is a flight engineer who ensures the helicopter is always in good flying condition. There is also a navigator and a load master who ensures that the load is well fixed before the helicopter starts to move. This Russian heavy lift helicopter is unique for its role and perfect for its duties.
