Ultralight Trike for Sale
There are many ways to go about fulfilling your dream to join our fine-feathered friends in the air, and many have been attempted throughout history – some successful and some horrendous failures. One of the earliest visionaries of flying was Leonardo da Vinci with his “ornithopter” being conceived back in the 1480’s – it was never actually built but today’s helicopter is based on the same theories he developed. Much later the hot air balloon was invented in 1783 by Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier. And, of course, everyone has heard of the success of the Wright brothers in 1903.
We have come a long ways since the Wright’s first flight in Kitty Hawk. In just a little over 100 years we have taken flying from its humble beginnings to international flights, supersonic speeds and even flights in space. Yet owning and piloting an aircraft was something few could aspire to do because of the incredible cost of an aircraft, not to mention the maintenance expenses.
Thanks to improving technology in lightweight materials and engines, we are now seeing recreational, personal aircrafts such as ultralight helicopters, powered gliders and ultralight trikes for sale. Even better news for the aspiring aviator is that if you are looking for an ultralight trike for sale you can find one used or build one with either ultralight trike kits or ultralight trike plans.
Buying a Used Ultralight
There are a number of places to look for a used ultralight for sale. Sites online such as Rainbow Aviation (www.rainbowaviation.com), Aero Trader Online (www.aerotrader.com) and Barnstormers (www.barnstormers.com) are just a few places to browse ads and see what is out there.
Building Your Own
If you are interested in building your own aircraft, consider whether to obtain plans and find all your own parts or whether you would be better getting a kit. For some it is a nice challenge to search out the various parts and build an aircraft little by little. Such an enthusiast gains as much pleasure from this process as flying the aircraft, and some actually do this just to sell the finished product.
For others that lack the time, the talent, and/or the interest, buying a ready-to-assemble kit is their preferred pathway to flight. Generally the time to assemble such a kit is between 100 and 300 hours, and in most cases the more complicated processes such critical welding and drilling have already been done. The specification on any kit will tell you what to expect for that aircraft.
The largest manufacturer of sport aircrafts is Quicksilver. They have dealers all over the world that will help you choose the ultralight kit that is right for you. You can find a dealer by going to their website at www.quicksilveraircraft.com as well as review the various aircraft they produce. There are also many other companies available.
Whether you purchase a used ultralight, an ultralight kit or ultralight plans, there are two things you will want to do to make your experience a success (and let’s face it, failure is not a good option) – one is to be sure you get the aircraft that is suitable for your needs and the other is to obtain thorough training from a qualified instructor. Even though in some cases a license is not required, it would be crazy to attempt flying without knowing exactly what you are doing.
